RSummit is a food and restaurant technology conference hosted by RMagazine. Our goal was to bring thought leaders from the industry together to promote innovation and progress within their restaurant. Visionaries gather to discuss the latest trends, technologies and solutions that impact the food service business.

McDonalds and Denny’s attendees offered advice face to face about how they utilize eRestuarant’s back of the house software. Tom Sawyer from Jack in the Box explained his implementation process that works well with his system during the breakout session, and Jay Georgianna from Peet’s Coffee& Tea gave us all an insightful talk about the “Pursuit of Better”, along with a pound of fresh-roasted coffee, which I’m sure is making this week a lot easier for the attendees. All of these were a small part of the three-day conference RSummit2016 in Las Vegas on Oct 12-14th.

From the eyes of the Event Coordinator

Since May of this year, Assistant Event Coordinator, Hannah Botelho and I have been working diligently to ensure this event would exceed expectations, and I’m thrilled to say it was a success! We were pleased to have former Executive Vice President of Operations for the Walt Disney World® Resort, Lee Cockerell presenting as our keynote speaker. In addition to the warm and honest talks he gave us at the conference, Lee came out to the cocktail reception and we all enjoyed having a chance to get to know him better. We heard about an exciting new “Open POS Project” from CEO of Altametrics, Mitesh Gala. Ravel Lai from Pizza Hut International was among some of the speakers this year, along with several attendees from Mcdonald’s; Kathy Froelich, Senior IT Project Manager, spoke on their large scale implementation of eRestaurant. The RMagazine team showed a strong presence as presenters of this conference; conducting interviews with speakers and attendees. I had a ton of fun co-presenting with Editor in Chief, Jim Doane, on the Generation Focus Group; it was nice to bring a few laughs out of a tech conference! Those of us who made it to the piano bar on Thursday evening also had a great time singing along and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

I’m so grateful to everyone on the team at RMagazine and Altametrics, without whom this event would never have come to fruition. This team helped Hannah and I every chance they could, worked rigorously on their presentations, and also helped setup the conference floor itself. I was very happy to see everything come together. Teamwork makes the dream work!
